FUKSAS REALIZES THE JERUSALEM ICC: BETWEEN SUSTAINABILITY AND INNOVATION
The new International Congress Center (ICC) of Jerusalem which will be located in the "City Gateway" - a district characterized by the presence of financial, commercial, cultural, tourist, entertainment activities, destined to become the new gateway to the city of Jerusalem – will have the recognizable trait and style of Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas. Built around the existing Ussishkin Hall Building, which in turn will be redesigned, the ICC in Jerusalem will become the largest conference center in the Middle East as confirmed by the "numbers": the project area will be 270,000 square meters in which will host a Congress Center, a hotel of about 10 floors (800 rooms), an office building of 6-10 floors, two business towers, 36 floors high, residences, shopping areas, an underground car park and a large square - the ICC Plaza - meeting point north of the area, on Sderot Shazar, connected to the surrounding streets by pedestrian public passages. Particular attention has been paid to the sustainability of the structures in terms of energy savings, the life cycle of the products, the healthiness of the interiors, the choice of materials, the harmony with the surrounding urban context, the organization of the routes inside of the project. Green spaces and covered routes will allow pleasant walks and stops in the area. The use of local stone for facade cladding allows the project to integrate perfectly into the surrounding context. “Sustainability and enhancement of local materials – says Roberto Rescia, Ceo Cover Hat - are two valuable elements of a realization that will surely contribute to giving further appeal to a city in deep turmoil”.
