LET US MEET BETTER: GIANLUCA LAZZATI

An architect and a dreamer who makes of harmony his guide line to create and design shapes, objects and spaces. Leitmotiv which distinguishes each of his accomplishments made in Coverhat. As intellectual affinity he finds inspiration in Paul Rudolph, a pupil of Gropius, but for common feeling he addresses to Leon Battista Alberti: "the adjustment of all parts proportionately so that one cannot add or subtract or change without impairing the harmony of the whole."(De re edificatoria).

Q: How do you take charge of a project in Coverhat?

A: A planned methodology is not possible because everything comes from the meeting and listening of the client. This is an essential phase not only to empathize and establish a first contact of mutual trust, but also to trigger the machine of imagination. This is how the impossible can become possible!

Q: What elements do you consider essential when creating a project that wants to combine aesthetics and functionality?

A: Equilibrium is the only element on which it depends and from which everything derives.

Q: Which elements to work on to give it a specific identity?

A: Shapes, materials and details have the merit of making each project unique. We think, for example, of a chair: despite having a form and a function codified and consolidated over the centuries, it continues to have a wide bound of creative development and realization, thanks to the interpenetration of these 3 factors.

D: Factor M: materials. Which ones do you consider the most performing in sports coverage and why?

A: In sports, polyester coated with PVC is the best compromise between quality, technical characteristics, durability and costs.

Q. What are the must-have for textile architecture and luxury realizations? Because?

A: As for textile architecture, the aesthetic and functional approach requires the use of more refined materials. Some examples: fiberglass fabrics with long-lasting PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) coating, high translucency and surface self-cleaning capacity; fiberglass fabrics with very flexible silicone coating; ETFE film (tetrafluoroethylene) able to provide transparency results like glass. For "luxury" trade, on the other hand, we focus on fabrics made of expanded PTFE (Tenara®), top of the range for strength, translucency, surface self-cleaning capacity and durability.

Q: What makes a project, a Coverhat project?

A: Two words: singularity, meaning uniqueness and characterization, and tailor made. The tailor-made based on specific needs is our guideline. Last but not least the "client feeling", that relationship of harmony between the needs of the customer and the ability to satisfy them of our company.

Q: A realization that you wished it was yours?

R: "The Auditorium" by Oscar Niemeyer " in Ravello, but maybe all his projects!

Q: A project you are working on?

A: A concept store of a well-known company of infusions to be included in the large-scale retail trade.

Q: A project you would like to work on?

A: A place of worship would be a great challenge in which an intimate, philosophical, mystical component would also come into play.

D: From planning to implementation: what makes the circle virtuous?

A: Professionalism is the element that makes the difference. Not only in terms of production capacity, but also of attention to the client's needs, which we have to accomplish and not to overcome.

Q: A project is perfect when ...?

A: A project is never perfect. The boundaries of growth always exist.
