A PVC MEMBRANE IS NOT WORTH THE OTHER

If the fabrics in Polyester coated PVC are the most used material in textile architecture thanks to the cost/benefit ratio, there are specific variants that improve the value such fabrics as fiberglass coated silicone, expanded PTFE fabrics and Nylon-PU fabrics. "The merit of the silicone coating treated with specific additives - explains Roberto Rescia, Ceo Coverhat - is to obviate the limited elasticity of fiberglass fabrics. However, the advantages of silicone go beyond the elastic factor and speak the language of resistance to UV radiation and chemical attack ". No rebound in terms of performance? "On the contrary: this solution has to deal with electrostatic charges that are a natural attract-dust and with an unpopular cost. The price of the material together with its manifacturing make it of few use in the textile architecture ". Even the expanded PTFE fabrics are reserved to a few trade sectors, notwithstanding their flexibility, good light transmission and dirt resistance which make them suitable, for example, for the realization of structures with automated mechanisms. Certainly, the investment budget should not be limited.
