FAQ - Costs and maintenance

  • Are there operational limits due to extreme climate conditions for CoverHat pressure switch cover?

No, there are no limits; airdome can be installed in the most inaccessible places, but adequate technical measures must be provided to ensure reliability in all weather conditions.

  • Does the airdome need continuous ventilation?

Yes, the operating principle is based on the continuous introduction of low pressure air to maintain an overpressure within the volume of the envelope for which the inflation fan is in operation 24 hours a day.

  • Does the CoverHat airdome require numerous routine maintenance interventions?

The routine maintenance of the CoverHat airdome is aimed at periodically checking the correct functioning of the technological systems to ensure safety during use. As regards the membrane and the other static accessories in permanent covers, maintenance is reduced to periodic visual checks which, in seasonal covers, are carried out by technicians during reassembly.

  • How much does a CoverHat airdome cost?

It is difficult to define a valid reference price for each airdome, but in the panorama of building constructions, the airdome is the one that represents perhaps the cheapest alternative.

  • Is the insulating capacity of the airdome only due to the use of two or more membranes and any insulating materials?

In Nature the air is the best component that participates to determine the insulation capacity of the CoverHat airdome. The correct design of the membranes, the correct design of the technological ventilation devices, the correct management of the air between the membranes are all essential to have an energy-efficient shell.

  • Is there a technology to increase the efficiency of electrical equipment and minimize the consumption of electricity for sustenance?

The ventilation systems used in CoverHat airdome can be equipped with inverters to manage the operation of the electric motor and automatic internal pressure management systems that optimize overall operation by minimizing electrical consumption.

  • What costs should I consider to build a reliable income statement?

The purchase cost of the airdome (membrane, anchoring accessories, entrance doors, emergency exits, fan unit, backup unit for ventilation, lighting system), ground anchoring system, preparation for installations technology, operating costs and assembly and disassembly operations in the case of seasonal use.

  • What does the energy efficiency of a CoverHat airdome depend on?

The energy efficiency of the CoverHat airdome is the sum of the performances derived from the thermal resistance of the membrane shell, from the aeraulic losses of the anchor lines and from the efficiency of the inflation and heating system.

  • What does the thermal resistance of the membrane shell in the airdome depend on?

The thermal resistance of the membrane shell depends on the number of membranes that form the envelope, one membrane has minimum performance, two represent a substantial gain in thermal resistance, three an additional performance gain. The technological development of lightweight insulating materials to be used with PES / PVC membranes represents a further step in energy gain for the airdome.
